Sustainability has become one of the most discussed topics in Automotive Design, but is it still a trend or has it become a non-negotiable foundation for CMF development?

This panel examines how sustainability is redefining materials, processes, and design priorities. From bio-based alternatives and recycled content to transparent supply chains and circular concepts, the expectations placed on CMF teams continue to grow.

We’ll explore the tension between aesthetic ambition, performance requirements, and environmental responsibility. What progress has truly been made? Where do major challenges remain? And how can sustainability move beyond storytelling to become a measurable, integrated part of every design decision?

Automotive Design is global, but cultural perspectives on colour, materials, and aesthetics vary significantly. What resonates in one market may feel out of place in another, and understanding these nuances is essential for brands operating worldwide.

This panel brings together perspectives from Asia, Europe, and the US to explore how cultural values, consumer expectations, and regional trends shape CMF decisions. Where are we seeing convergence, and where do differences remain strong? How do global brands balance a unified identity with local relevance?

Through shared expereinces, our panelists will highlight how cross-cultural awareness can become a strategic advantage in CMF development.

Speakers:

  • Amy Frascella: Freelance Creative Consultant
  • Sophia Park: Director CMF Design at Rivian
  • Williane Oliveira: Director of CMF NIO/ Firefly at NIO

Freshen up, have a few chit chats, and enjoy delicious Italian coffee and treats.

The most inspiring CMF concepts only succeed if they can be brought to life. Between bold creative visions and series production lies a complex landscape of technical constraints, cost pressures, supplier capabilities, and regulatory requirements.

This panel focuses on the critical intersection of creativity and feasibility. How early should feasibility be integrated into the design process? How can designers collaborate more effectively with engineering and suppliers? And where is there still room to push boundaries despite tight frameworks?

Our experts will share practical insights on navigating compromises without losing the original vision, revealing how strong communication and strategic thinking can turn ambitious ideas into tangible results.

Speakers:

  • Chris Lefteri: Design Ambassador & Advocate at Alcantara S.p.A.
  • Claudia Fräßdorf: Head of Colour & Material Design at BMW Group

The perfect way to end the day: relax, chat, and simply have a good time with old and new friends.

Lighting Conference – April 21

For a half day, Haus of Automotive sets the stage for the industry’s pioneers to shine the spotlight on a discipline with untapped potential in Automotive Design: Lighting. Explore the intersection of lighting art and immersive experiences, and how a new generation of digital craftsmanship is shaping emotive Design beyond pure functionality.

Welcome to the Lighting Conference at Haus of Automotive 2026 in collaboration with our partner DVN!

A warm “Hello” to all our guests from Konzepthaus CEO Martin Groschwald.

Bentley has crafted wood, leather and metal for over 100 years. With the same attention to detail Bentley wants to craft light – the fourth material.

True luxury demands a restless pursuit of excellence, and excellence demands evolving craftsmanship. That’s why Bentley is investing in new skills, building bridges between design and electrical engineering – a generation of craftsmanship: Digital Craftsmanship.

Held by Bentley’s Lead Lighting Designer Naomi Saka, the talk will go into a deep dive on how the brand achieves curated luxury Lighting for its customers from concept to production, and expanding the creative vocabulary of light across disciplines.

Lighting has become one of the most recognisable elements of a vehicle’s identity. From distinctive daytime running lights to animated welcome sequences, exterior lighting now plays a central role in defining how a brand is perceived on the road.

This panel explores how Lighting evolved into a powerful Design signature. How do designers balance creativity with regulatory and engineering constraints? And how can brands maintain a clear visual identity as lighting possibilities continue to expand?

Our panelists will discuss how design and technology intersect in modern Lighting development and how exterior lighting is shaping the future language of Automotive and Mobility Design.

Speakers:

  • Ben Payne: Vice President at Group Lotus
  • Carsten Hohmann: Senior Industrial Designer at FORVIA HELLA Lighting Innovation Department
  • Jürgen Jose: Professor & Head of the Programme BA Transportation Design at Pforzheim University
  • Sven Oberndörfer: Head of Technical Operations Management at LEONHARD KURZ

As vehicle interiors transform into multifunctional spaces, lighting is becoming a key element in shaping how these environments are experienced. Beyond simple illumination, interior lighting now influences atmosphere, comfort, and the perceived quality of a space.

This panel examines the role of Lighting in creating emotional and spatial experiences inside vehicles. How can designers use light to define zones, enhance materials, and support different moments of use from focused driving to relaxed travel? In what ways does Lighting contribute to the feeling of a living space rather than a purely functional cockpit?

We will explore how Lighting helps turn mobility interiors into environments that feel intuitive, comfortable, and increasingly comparable to domestic spaces.

Freshen up, have a few chit chats, and enjoy delicious Italian coffee and treats.

Lighting is no longer only about visibility or decoration. Increasingly, it acts as an interface between the vehicle and its users, communicating information, guiding attention, and supporting intuitive interaction.

This panel focuses on the growing role of Lighting within the user experience. How can light help users understand vehicle functions and systems without relying on traditional displays? What role does Lighting play in communicating safety, status, or intent both inside and outside the vehicle? And how can designers ensure that lighting based interactions remain intuitive rather than overwhelming?

Our panelists will discuss how Lighting is evolving into a core component of mobility UX and how thoughtful Design can transform light into a meaningful communication tool.

Speakers:

  • Cesar Muntada: Head of Design Light Experience at Audi AG
  • Moritz Waldemeyer: Head of Design and Director at Studio Waldemeyer
  • Naomi Saka: Lead Designer at Bentley
  • Yves Peitzner: Artist, Creative Director & Educator

Join in on the conversations with your fellow creatives while gearing up with some mouth-watering meals before we’re heading into the next round of panels.

UX & Brand Conference – April 21

Delve into the rising star of Automotive Design during half a day dedicated to UX & Brand. Explore how the role of UX Design and Brand is continuously becoming more crucial to creating desirable product and hear emerging ideas for their future by the industry’s biggest thought-leaders.

Welcome back to the second part of this conference day, where it’s all about UX & Brand.

For decades, automotive brands were defined by design, performance, and engineering. Today, user experience is increasingly becoming the interface between brand and customer, shaping perception far beyond the physical product.

This panel explores the shift from feature-driven differentiation to experience-led brand building. When did UX move from a supporting role to a defining element? And what does it mean for brands when the experience becomes more and more memorable?

We’ll discuss how seamless interactions, intuitive systems, and emotional touchpoints influence brand identity. Is UX now the strongest differentiator in an increasingly homogenised market? And how must organisations rethink their processes, teams, and priorities to design experiences that truly stand out?

Speakers:

  • Anthony Pond: UX Director at Territory Studio
  • Lowie Vermeersch: Founder & Creative Director atGranstudio S.p.A.
  • Nils Sajonz: VW Group Design Strategist/Consultant at Volkswagen Group
  • Turi Cacciatore: Multidisciplinary Designer & Software Developer at Turi Design

Automotive brands operate on a global stage, but user expectations, cultural contexts, and interpretations of experience differ widely across regions. Designing for consistency while remaining locally relevant has become one of the most complex challenges in UX and Branding today.

This panel examines the tension between a unified brand experience and the need for cultural sensitivity. How do interaction patterns, visual language, and even the meaning of “intuitive” vary between regions like Asia, Europe, and the US?
Where should brands adapt, and where should they remain consistent? And what does it take to create experiences that feel coherent worldwide, yet resonate deeply on a local level?

Freshen up, have a few chit chats, and enjoy delicious Italian coffee and treats.

Automotive brands are no longer defined solely by the vehicles they produce. To stay relevant, they must increasingly position themselves within a broader cultural context – engaging with lifestyle, design, and communities beyond the car itself.

Our panelists explore how brands expand into cultural spaces and what it takes to do so credibly. Why is it no longer enough to focus on the product alone? And how can automotive learn from other industries, where experience and storytelling have long been central?

We’ll critically examine the fine line between meaningful brand engagement and superficial marketing. When do extensions into culture create real value and when do they feel forced? The panel will share perspectives on how automotive brands can build authentic, lasting connections in a world where relevance is defined far beyond mobility.

A heartfelt “Thank you” to our guests from Konzepthaus CEO Martin Groschwald for spending an inspiring day with us.

Connect with fellow guests and speakers, exchange perspectives on what was shared on stage, and get inspired for big ideas on the future of Automotive Design. And don’t forget to check out the partner exhibitions, where cutting-edge technologies and future-forward innovations wait to be explored.
