How has Consulting in the Automotive Design industry and at Konzepthaus changes over the last 10 years?

Over the past 10 years, the Automotive Design industry has been faced with increasing uncertainty and transformation pressure. Understanding design alone does no longer make the cut. Today, clients require partners who also know how to connect it meaningfully to strategy, organisation, and long-term positioning.

At Konzepthaus, Consulting has adapted to what the industry truly needs. Originally having taken on a predominantly supportive role, service-driven role, we have evolved into a strategic advisory partner embedded in our clients’ design ecosystem. Purely analytical support and isolated problem-solving have developed into a holistic approach that addresses design as a strategic, organisational, and business-relevant capability. We’re turning brand ambition into clear vision, corporate strategy into roadmaps, and market dynamics into decision frameworks aimed at future mobility scenarios.

The environment has become more complex than ever, but we’re keeping you oriented throughout changing business models and organisational setups to ensure design is adequately positioned within your organisation.

Where do you see Consulting in the Automotive Design industry and at Konzepthaus heading in the next 10 years?

Looking ahead, the next decade will be defined even more by the need for clarity, alignment, and strategic resilience in Automotive Design organisations. As transformation cycles accelerate and traditional structures are continuously challenged, Consulting will increasingly focus on enabling clients to make the right decisions not for current, but for future pathways.

What that requires are long-term strategic partnerships. And that’s our vision for Consulting at Konzepthaus going into this next decade: being a thought-partner, rather than a process enforcer. Supporting clients beyond limited initiatives as a continuous sparring partner for design ecosystems includes shaping design organisations, defining roles and interfaces, establishing governance models, and supporting teams in navigating change across brands, cultures, and markets.

So, rather than simply reacting to trends, our Consulting team will increasingly operate as an anticipatory force for providing clients with the identification of future-relevant areas early, assess their impact, and translate them into actionable strategic directions. Today or in the next decade, our commitment remains clear: strengthen our clients’ design capabilities in a way that ensures long-term relevance, credibility, and strategic impact within their organisations.

Knowing what you know today, what advice would you give little Konzepthaus that’s just starting out 10 years ago?

Don’t be afraid to question the status quo. Challenging established structures and ways of working won’t always be easy, but staying curious, adaptable, and forward-looking will help you anticipate impactful developments, often well before the market catches up, and create real value for the entire Automotive Design industry.
