How has Design Project Management in the Automotive Design industry and at Konzepthaus changed over the last 10 years?
In the last couple of years, complexity, pace, and competition in the Automotive Design industry have accelerated rapidly. That change is palpable: the pressure has never been higher for design departments to deliver more, while having less. Less time, less budget, and less internal capacity. Companies, people, and designs suffer the consequences. What is needed in this environment is a strong partner who can ensure processes run smoothly, capabilities are efficiently allocated, and design quality is preserved throughout execution across multiple stakeholders and development phases.
Which is why, over the past decade, our Design Project Management service has advanced from operating as a coordinator of design projects to becoming a central execution partner within complex automotive development environments. Beyond managing timelines, budgets, and interfaces, today our focus lies in translating design intent into implementable outcomes and aligning creative ambition with technical, organisational, and process-related realities.
Where do you see Design Project Management in the Automotive Design industry and at Konzepthaus heading in the next 10 years?
Building on this development, the next 10 years will be about strengthening continuity and reliability in the execution of design projects. As design cycles will continue to shorten and requirements will change more frequently, the need for flexibility and rapid responsiveness within ongoing design activities will proceed to grow.
Our aim for the future of Konzepthaus is to move beyond isolated project assignments toward longer-term involvement through framework agreements, building on established relationships. This allows Design Project Management to support clients continuously and to ensure stable execution, faster decision-making, and consistent design implementation across multiple projects. What stays unchanged is our ambition to provide companies with the best possible support in the execution and implementation of their design projects.
Over the years, how have we managed to adapt to changes and stay ahead of the game by innovating?
What has always helped us is constantly fine-tuning how we run projects as things get more complex. By listening closely to our clients, staying open to new tools and workflows, and working hand in hand with strong partners and connections within the design ecosystem, we’ve found more flexible ways of working and introduced new competencies to our Design Project Management service, keeping projects moving smoothly even when the environment isn’t. And we’ll continue to do so over the next decade as well.
