As designers, we value user-centricity but work in a system that measures success in terms of profit. If we want to be serious about putting humans first or in the centre, we need new principles to guide us in achieving this goal. This talk on the topic of "Design like you mean it" by Hertje Brodersen  (former Head of Product Design at Zalando) explores some of the biases and blind spots that hold us back and some ideas of how we might change.

Hertje Brodersen is a UX Designer, Experience Strategist and Design Leader with a background in literary sciences and cultural anthropology. While this may not be the typical start for a career in UX, it helped her shape a creative and analytical mind that likes complex problems that can’t be shoe-horned in a simple sitemap.

After her talk, you'll have the opportunity to ask Hertje questions in our 15-minute Q&A session, followed by a 15-minute break.

We have prepared some delights for you to enjoy with old and new friends and colleagues to fuel up for the next session in combination with some special drinks.

Profile Picture - Juliane Steinberg

We are all familiar with the usage of voice-only user interfaces. Whenever an interaction with Alexa or a phone bot does not go as well as it should, we are stumped though. „Why does this thing not understand me, when I just told it exactly what I want?!“ is a phrase often heard. Voice user interfaces can be extremely powerful, and they make it possible to interact with software when one's eyes and hands are otherwise occupied. They also bring their own set of challenges compared to Graphical User Interfaces, which this talk will illustrate in gory detail.

Juliane Steinberg (Senior Conversational UX Architect at Future of Voice), will speak about the challenges and potential of voice user interfaces in this presentation. What can voice user experience designers do to help? By performing various treatments on the live dialogue, Juliane will give us insights into the characteristics of voice user interfaces and illustrate best practices for building great voice bots.

After her talk, you'll have the opportunity to ask Juliane questions in our 15-minute Q&A session, followed by a 15-minute break.

Profile Picture - Flora Maxwell

Following my beloved coffee routine during those occasionally hectic project times, Flora Maxwell realized that developing products in teams is at least as complex as making coffee with an espresso machine. She’ll take you into the world of coffee and share her insights on collaboration and team dynamics with you.

Flora supports UX&I as a Senior UI Designer. With a great love for detail, she transforms excellent UX concepts into contemporary user interfaces. Faced with complex problems, she enjoys collaborating with product teams to devise flexible solutions, ensuring consistency and reusability through design systems, among other things. Her balance to pixel perfect design? Emptying highlighters for her project “The Maxwell Pattern.”

After her talk, you'll have the opportunity to ask Flora questions in our 15-minute Q&A session, followed by a 15-minute break.

Yashvir Chawla

In this talk on the topic of "Level up your designers skills and let them know you care", Yashvir Chawla (Product Manager at Hochschule Niederrhein and Founder of Employed.world) will be presenting a “career matrix” tool and framework which can help a design leader or manager or product manager evaluate skills and plan a learning map for their designers, collaboratively. This is also helpful for UX-teams to self evaluate and structure their learning path.

After the talk, you'll have the opportunity to ask Yashvir questions in our 15-minute Q&A session, followed by the networking session of the event.

Connect with old and new acquaintances. Create friendships and partnerships. Use this time to ask all the questions you couldn't ask in our short breaks while enjoying some drinks and delights on the side. We are very much looking forward to meeting the people behind the LinkedIn faces.

This is also another great opportunity to meet our speakers, recruiters and organisers of the event but also our partner from UX&I.

The perfect synergy! But why?

Konzepthaus  and UX&I unite with a shared vision: to forge creative teams that genuinely care, and empower individuals to shape technology for the benefits of humans. It's a collaboration grounded in honesty, dedication, and the shared ambition to constantly pursue the better.
